If you are thinking about getting started with slot racing you will want to look at 1:32 size kits. But what is 1:32? Well, it is the most popular size for slot racing! When you buy this size you will have a ton of options for tracks and cars and be easily able to expand your track and add more cars whenever you feel like it.

There is the option of getting a 1:24 size set. But because these cars are bigger, they require a wider track and Carrera is the only brand that make track for this size of car. The 1:24 size is for the serious racer and mainly geared towards the older market. If you are just getting into slot racing or the tracks will mainly be used by younger children, you will want to go with the 1:32 sized track and cars.

As you progress with the hobby, you will want to make your car run faster and better than the opposition. At magnet marshal, we have a few tips that are going to help you beat the competition.

The first things you will need to look at are the tires. You will want to replace the factory tires with silicone or urethane tires. Do this and your handling will really improve. Another option you have is to sand the factory tires to give them better tire to track grip.

Tinker with the magnets on the cars as well. Slot racing is all about how fast you can drive and still stay stuck to the track. If you flip over your car, you will find the magnet. Lower the magnet by turning the screws, this is going to increase the magnets down force. If this is not enough, you can replace the magnets with a stronger brand. Be careful not to make the magnets have too much down force, or this will cause the car to drag and could fail your motor.

You may also want to add more weight to your car, when you are slot racing at full speed, the front of your car may bounce. You can buy weights that stick to the car to solve this problem. It is going to take some calculation to find the perfect weight for your car.

But the best way to win slot racing is practice, hours and hours of it. Learn what you car can and cannot do, practice on the corners and get experienced with all types of track. After a while, you will be coming in at 1st place every time. See you on the track!
