If you are thinking about buying a RC car, you have two main options. You can either go electric or you can go nitro. But what are the differences between the two and what one will suit your level of ability? Well, we at magnet marshal have all the answers you need.
If you are just starting out and want to buy a RC car for pleasure or to start your racing career, you should probably start with an electric RC car. These are powered by battery packs. It is always a good idea to buy some additional battery packs with your RC car. One battery pack will provide you with about 15 minutes of full speed racing. So if you have another pack ready and charged, you can simply switch them over when the time comes. A battery pack will take about half an hour to charge.
Expect your electric remote controlled car to get an off road speed of 15 to 30mph and an on road speed of 20 to 40 mph. The electric cars are great for beginner racers because they are easier to control than nitro cars and are also a lot quieter.
If you want speed and power then a nitro RC car is for you. These cars run on nitro fuel. While this fuel is not as combustible as gasoline, it is still flammable and should be treated with caution.
Expect the nitro powered RC cars to get speeds anywhere between 20 and 60mph. It is possible to get these cars to go even faster, but this requires skill and knowledge of a racetrack and the constraints of the RC car.
These cars are much harder to control than electric RC cars, so they are definitely for the serious hobbyist and can be too much for a beginner to handle. But if you are getting serious about the RC racing, you will want to try and race with a nitro RC car. The thrill of controlling a car that is going 60mph is a lot of fun.
